Warner Bros. Pictures casting actors for Catherine Hardwicke film Red Riding Hood

Warner Bros. Pictures is in pre-production on the upcoming feature film Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried. The film is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke. Hardwicke is best known for directing "Twilight", which was the last feature film she directed. She has a penchant for discovering new talent and this film may be no exception. Hardwicke has already cast two unknowns for lead roles in Red Riding Hood - Shiloh Fernandez and Max Irons.

Red Riding Hood is a thriller that centers on a medieval town that’s been terrorized by a werewolf for generations. Seyfried’s character Valerie is at the center of a love triangle and is a free spirit who often runs counter to her fearful family and town.

Shooting will take place in the Vancouver, BC area from July 21, 2010 through September 16, 2010. The film's scheduled release date is April 22, 2011.

Story:

A Gothic imagining of the classic fairy tale in which Isabelle, a young woman is confronted by a werewolf, this time with a teenage love triangle at its center. Fernandez plays Peter, an orphaned woodcutter for whom Isabelle falls, much to the displeasure of her family. Irons will play Henri, the son of a blacksmith who, through an arrangement, is to marry Isabelle. Oldman would play Father Soloman, a man whose title is the Witchfinder General and whose job is to find and kill the werewolf.
