"The Frozen Ground" will be hiring speaking roles and hundreds of extras in Alaska.
AB Media Publishing, LLC

The feature film "The Frozen Ground" will begin shooting in Anchorage, Alaska on October 17, 2011. The casting director is hiring as many as 45 Alaska actors for speaking roles, as well as several hundred background extras. They are especially seeking state troopers and members of the police department who are interested in acting and extras roles. The film's main starring roles are being cast out of Los Angeles.

Written by New Zealander Scott Walker, who will also make his directing debut, the film is based on the true story of Alaska's most notorious serial predator, Robert "butcher baker" Hansen, who abducted some two dozen women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness where he released and then hunted them. John Cusack plays the role of Robert Hanson, Nicolas Cage plays the State Trooper who hunts Hanson, and Vanessa Hudgens plays a victim of Hanson's who survives and helps bring him to justice.

Brandt Andersen will executive produce with a $27 million budget for Emmett/Furla Films while George Furla and Randall Emmett will produce for the company. Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky will produce for Amber Entertainment. Curtis "50 cent" Jackson has come onboard to play a substantial role as a 1980s-era pimp, and will also executive produce the film with Envision.

If anyone wants to be an extra - you do not need to audition. In that case, you still need to send an e-mail with a current snapshot and contact information. Again, if you match the look of the extras they need AND have a very flexible schedule and availability of at least 12 open hours in a day (not weekends), then you MAY be called in for extras work.

The casting e mail is:

Write "Extra" in the subject line.

Production Companies:

Do NOT send photos and resumes to the production companies, as they will most likely end up being thrown away. They do not cast the films, rather they hire casting directors who sort through the thousands of submissions.

Based on true events surrounding Alaska's most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen (John Cusack), a respected family man, who over the course of twelve years abducted, tortured and raped over twenty four women, flying them to the Alaskan wilderness and hunting them down before killing them. Story will follow an Alaska State Trooper (Nicolas Cage) who finds one of Hansen's victims (Vanessa Hudgens) alive on the street who becomes the key in an unlikely partnership that brings Hansen to justice. Hansen was arrested in 1983 and charged with four murders and, as part of a plea bargain, agreed to show police where the graves of the murdered women were. He was sentenced to 461 years in prison and is currently imprisoned at Spring Creek Correctional Center in Alaska.
