Centers on the widespread corruption in the Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (or CRASH) anti-gang unit of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Rampart Division in the late 1990s. Maverick LAPD cop Dave Brown (Harrelson), a Vietnam vet and a 30 year veteran of the Rampart division, uses his police powers like a Wild West gunslinger. But when the Rampart scandal erupts, he soon realizes that there's a new sheriff in town. When a videotaped beating puts him at the center of a media firestorm, he suspects that he has been targeted as a scapegoat. He must finally confront a lifetime of compromise, a deadly legacy with far-reaching implications for himself, his family, and his future.
