Universal Pictures auditions in Los Angeles for feature film Battleship

The mega-popular Hasbro board game Battleship is about to come to life on the big screen as an epic naval action adventure. Director Peter Berg will helm the project. Berg starred as an actor playing Dr. Billy Kronk in the hit 20th Century Fox Television series Chicago Hope and has directed such films as The Rundown, Hancock, and The Kingdom.

Brothers Jon and Erich Hoeber have signed on to pen the script. The brothers recently wrote the script for the Di Bonaventura Pictures film Red, starring Bruce Willis and John Malkovich.

Battleship will begin shooting at Baton Rouge, Louisiana's Celtic Studios in August, 2010, and then in Hawaii. The release date is scheduled for May 25, 2012. Principal actors are being cast in Los Angeles, with some featured roles and extras being cast in Baton Rouge and Hawaii.

Story:

A contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle against an alien race is known as The Regents. They come from a world similar to ours, and aren’t actually looking to take over humanity or the planet Earth. Instead, they’re on a mission to build a power source in the ocean, which is where they come in contact with a navy fleet. The film will also show us both sides of the story—from the aliens’ perspective, as well as the humans.

Wes Craven's Scream 4 auditions underway in Los Angeles and New York

Dimension Films is currently in pre-production on the upcoming feature film Scream 4 (aka Scre4m), and auditions are taking place in Los Angeles and New York for lead and supporting roles. The film's extras will be hired in the Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan areas.

The script has been penned by Kevin Williamson, who also wrote the first 3 Scream films, and is being produced by Bob and Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Company. Wes Craven returns to direct his fourth installment of the Scream franchise.

Several of the main stars have been cast, including David Arquette, Courteney Cox Arquette, Neve Campbell, and Patrick Dempsey. Offers have been sent out to Ashley Greene, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, and Lake Bellhave for roles in Scream 4.

Shooting is set to begin in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 14, 2010 with a release date of April 12, 2011.

20th Century Fox auditions for Rise of the Apes

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation is now casting for the next Planet of the Apes film titled Rise of the Apes. British director Rupert Wyatt will helm the film from a script penned by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa. Wyatt is the founder of the film collection Picture Farm, which has produced numerous shorts, documentaries and features, including the Sundance Award-winning documentary Dark Days.

The story takes place in present day San Francisco, however it will be filmed at Mammoth Studios in Burnaby, BC and various locations around Vancouver. Shooting will run from July 5, 2010 through September 30, 2010 with a scheduled release date of June 24, 2011.

Paramount Pictures 'Transformers 3' Megan Fox Replacement Auditions

Update: Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has won the female lead to replace Megan Fox. She has worked with Michael Bay on a lingerie commercial, but has no other acting experience. Bay chose Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and executive producer Steven Spielberg has approved the decision.

Now that Megan Fox is officially out as Mikaela Banes in the Paramount Pictures feature film Transformers 3, director Michael Bay is auditioning actresses to replace Fox. This creates a huge cast vacancy that would be assure international fame and exposure for the actress who takes over the role of as Shia LaBeouf’s love interest in the $1.5 billion dollar franchise.

Principal photography was set to run from May 17, 2010 through July 1, 2010 with a release date of July 1st, 2011. The shoot start date will have to be pushed back until a suitable replacement is signed to replace Megan Fox. The filming locations are set for Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Florida, Texas, Africa, Moscow and China.

Story:

Shia LaBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky in "Transformers 3". A darker more introspective journey into the Transformers universe and their origins on Cybertron. Peter Cullen also returns as the voice of Optimus Prime. This 3rd installment in the series "won’t be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, as the film gets more into the robot character. The last time (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) you kind of met a few of the robots. In "Transformers 3" you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape" according to director Michael Bay. There is also preview footage of the possibility of Unicron, the planet eater, in this sequel.
