Summit Entertainment film 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' casting actors and extras

The upcoming feature film "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" is currently holding auditions for supporting roles as well as casting extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles in the Pittsburgh, PA area. A stand-in for Emma Watson will be hired to work the entire duration of filming. This will be Watson's first major acting role outside the "Harry Potter" series.

John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon, and Russell Smith all own a production company called Mr. Mudd, which is producing "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" with Summit Entertainment. Summit has also acquired distribution rights to the film.

Stephen Chbosky will direct from an adapted screenplay that he wrote based on his novel of the same name. Chbosky has one other directorial credit for the film "The Four Corners of Nowhere", which he also wrote. That film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival. Chbosky wrote the screenplay for Sony Pictures hit film "rent", and was also the Executive Producer/Creator/Head Writer on the CBS Primetime Emmy nominated TV series "Jerico".

The "Perks of Being a Wallflower" principal actor casting director in Pittsburgh is accepting photos and resumes from both union and non-union local actors, however she is giving strong preference to SAG members and/or formally trained talent. Details on how local Pittsburgh residents can be considered for work on the film as extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles is listed below. All types are needed, however they will especially be hiring a large amount of people between the ages of 18 - 22 years old who can play high school students. No prior experience working as an extra is needed, and non union people are welcome.

Principal photography begins in the Pittsburgh area on May 10, 2011 and will continue through July 12, 2011.

Story:
